In the footsteps of the Emperor: the Napoleon collection

August 15, the birthday of Napoleon I, is celebrated by history buffs and lovers of the Empire. This emperor, whose name evokes both greatness and controversy, left an indelible mark on the history of France and Europe. An emblematic figure, Napoleon inspired generations and continues to fascinate today. Maison Broussaud invites you to wear a piece of history through a unique collection, born from the passion of Maxime Broussaud.

How was the Napoleon collection from Maison Broussaud born?

There is an emotional connection between the history of Maison Broussaud and that of Napoleon, because it is above all a family story . Maxime Broussaud, fourth generation since the creation of the factory, has always been passionate about history and in particular that of Napoleon. An excellent reason, when you have been making socks in the family since 1938, to decide to make a pair. It is therefore this passion that is at the origin of the creation of our very first Napoleon pair: 4 years ago, Aymeric and Alexandra Broussaud, directors of the sock factory of the same name, knitted 3 pairs of socks with the image of Napoleon for the 18th birthday of their son Maxime, passionate about the Emperor since he was very young. They then launched a small production for the members of the association to which Maxime belongs.

At the request of enthusiasts, the idea of creating a complete and permanent collection was born. 4 years later, this collection has grown, thousands of pairs have been made and are sold in national museums.

Broussaud revisits the emblematic symbols of the Emperor

Each piece in the collection is designed to evoke the world of Napoleon. The Napoleon collection by Maison Broussaud features all the emblematic motifs of the Empire. Noble colors and materials combine to create elegant pieces. From socks adorned with Napoleon's coat of arms to sweaters embroidered with imperial symbols, each creation is an invitation to celebrate the Emperor's legacy. Subtly integrated into clothing and underwear, we find the Emperor's emblems delicately embroidered.

The N of Napoleon, the imperial eagle, the bees, the coat of arms, the laurel wreath... our Maison Broussaud collection dedicated to Napoleon now includes around ten models of socks, which can now be matched with boxers, a sweater, a pair of slippers or even cushions, all made in France:

  • Socks, a discreet tribute : The socks in the collection are a true concentrate of elegance. From sober models to more daring pieces embroidered with Napoleon's coat of arms, there is something for everyone.
  • The sweater : The sweater is a strong piece of the Napoleon collection. It is a sailor sweater made in a beautiful merino wool material, with shoulder buttoning and the Napoleonic symbol embroidered on the heart.
  • Underwear : Face everyday life like an Emperor with our boxer shorts, designed to offer optimal comfort. Available in navy blue, black or burgundy.
  • Slippers : To complete your collection, we also offer a pair of black Napoléon slippers with a wool lining for maximum softness.

Anecdote: the bee, symbol of the Empire

Did you know that the bee was one of Napoleon's favorite symbols? This small insect, known for its organization and hard work, represented the values of the Empire for the Emperor: unity, strength and prosperity. This is why you will find the bee on many pieces in the Maison Broussaud collection , as a nod to this strong symbolism.

Our Napoleon collection is made in France

All the socks in the collection have been made in our own factory located in Haute-Vienne since 1938. Our factory has been an expert in sock knitting for 3 generations.

Our Napoleon sweater was entirely made in France by the Regain factory , experts in knitting since 1973. For 50 years, these enthusiasts have been perpetuating the know-how of knitting, striving to make quality sweaters in their workshop located in Castres.

To make our slippers, we have placed our trust in the Rondinaud workshop , an expert in the manufacture of charentaises since 1907. Made using the ancestral method of sewn-turned, all Rondinaud charentaises are made in La Rochefoucauld in Charente, the historic birthplace of the legendary charentaise.
