Label Origine France Garantie socks: the demand for quality made in France

The socks manufactured and sold by Maison Broussaud all bear the Origine France Garantie label. But actually, do you know what OFG certification really means? How does it differ from the “Made in France” label? And why choose socks made in France? We will explain everything to you.

What is the France Guaranteed Origin Label for socks?

The Origine France Garantie label was created in 2011 by the Pro France association and Yves Jégo. The goal ? Promote and defend the demanding “produce in France”, but also promote French industrial and artisanal know-how .

All French companies, regardless of their size or sector of activity, can obtain OFG certification . All sectors of activity in France are concerned, including textiles.

Two criteria are essential to obtaining Origine France Garantie certification :

  • At least 50% of the product's manufacturing costs come from France.
  • The essential characteristics of the product must be obtained in France.

If the conditions are met, the OFG label is issued by an independent certification body. This means that the socks made by Maison Broussaud comply with the “Base Reference” specifications, imposed by the Origine France Garantie certification .

Please note : Every year, checks are carried out to verify that the main conditions of the label are respected.

The meaning of the France Guaranteed Origin Label for Maison Broussaud

At Maison Broussaud, each pair of socks made in the heart of Limousin is important. Much more than a simple accessory, our sock is the result of artisanal know-how passed down from generation to generation .

Since 1938, we have been faithful to “ made in France ”. This is why we are extremely proud to carry the Origine France Garantie label and the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (EPV) label.

More than just distinctions, these certifications reflect our deep values and our desire to offer high quality socks. By wearing the Origine France Garantie label, we affirm the commitments of Maison Broussaud :

  • Support the French economy and industry , by favoring local production.
  • Preserve the know-how of French knitting , a precious heritage that we wish to pass on to future generations.
  • Respect the environment , by selecting sustainable materials and reducing CO2 emissions thanks to shorter transport distances.

Why choose socks with the Origine France Garantie Label?

It’s simple, the Origine France Garantie label is the only official recognition that proves the French manufacture of a product .

Did you know ? Some commercial socks carry the “Made In France” label, yet they are not necessarily made in France.

The term “ Made in France ” is governed by certain criteria defined by the European Union Customs Code. To be able to affix it to a product, part of the manufacturing process must take place in France. This could be knitting the sock, or simply sewing a label. As you have understood, this means that all the production stages are not necessarily carried out on French territory.

So, how can you be sure to buy a pair of socks 100% made in France ? Trust the OFG label, created with the aim of highlighting products whose essential manufacturing stages have been carried out in France. Maison Broussaud's men's socks and women 's socks are made in our workshop, in a small village in Limousin.
